Lorena Contreras

Lorena, originally a native of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, moved to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 12. She started her dance training at South Mountain High School in the Dance Magnet Program. Lorena has trained and performed with such artists as Bill Evans, Lydia Torea, Bruce Nelson and Momix. She has received scholarships to study dance at Idyllwild School for the Arts in CA, Phoenix School of Ballet, Ballet Arizona, and Arizona State University. She studied dance at Arizona State University where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education in 2003. Lorena currently teaches Latin dance and English as a second language at Precision Charter High School. Her passion for dance has brought her back to DDT for another exciting season.


George JohnsonMember

George has been performing in the valley for eight years. He began dancing at Glendale Community College with Physical Graffiti, and has been performing with numerous dance companies including: Footwork Dance Project and Arizona Dance Company. George has also been fortunate to participate in important events such as Mikhail Baryshnikov’s White Oak Dance Project. George has also been performing as an actor in the valley. He was last seen in “Buddies,” an original play by Joe Marshall, where he was also the choreographer. As a dancer and an actor George is glad to be a part of Desert Dance Theatre for his second season.
